I painted this on a 20 inch metal sawblade I got from a sawmill in Kentucky. It took alot of work to sand and primer it. I put 3 coats of polyurethane on it after I painted it. I use acrylic paint but can paint with oils also. I love this painting and is probably my favorite one. It just seems to peaceful to me.
How beautiful, and inspired. Interesting that you would use a saw blade rather than canvas or paper. Very well done, though. You have much talent! Just wish it were a bigger picture so we could see the details.

We can forgive a man for making a useful thing as long as he does not admire it. The only excuse for making a useless thing is that one admires it intensely All art is quite useless.
1. Did you use a new or old saw blade?
2. Did you spray/paint a primer on?
3. What kind of paint did you use?
4. Did you spray a final coat of varnish?
5. Would it be okay at the end if I use spray varnish instead of paint on? Like is there a difference of not.
I want to do a sawblade painting this summer and I am getting a few people to answer this so I do it right.
I enjoyed this one the most out of the 3 you showed because at first from only the thumb, I thought someone cut out a painting and stuck it on to a photo. I was surprised to see the actual full size image, and even more surprised to learn that it really is done on a sawblade. Everything about the painting is amazing - so full of life. I love the birch trees and mountains the most.
Thank you, I worked hard on it and it's my fave to. I was afraid of adding too much in it and having too much going on in the painting but it worked out fine for me.

Like, seriously. I'm in awe at how detailed and beautiful everything is.
How long did it take you to get the finished product, sanding/varnishing/etc included?
